About Me

Augusto Silva loves animals (Need to start with that)

  •  As far back as I can remember, growing up in my native Colombia, I have always loved to draw and paint.
  • I had a FANTASTIC  art teacher (Mrs. Corret RIP) who taught me the techniques and I did the rest.
  • This passion grew as I became older.
  • I pursued engineering in college in Colombia and later came back to the USA to earn a master’s degree in USF.
  • Art has been my sanctuary of peace, my canvas to capture the beauty around me, a tool for working on inventions, a space to nurture my creativity, and a way to bring joy and inspiration to others by drawing or sculpting their loved ones in various media. Enjoy some of my work!

Engineer/ Artist/ Renaissance man

  • I grew up on a farm, loving horses. Don't be surprised if you see many of them here.
  • I have learned all the techniques simply by trying it out and learning as i go.
  • "Art books" and "How to books" are my biggest and most loved possession.
  • All the wood i used for carving comes from donations. People had to cut their trees and need to get rid off the cut pieces.
  • The first time i did such recycling i was naive to think that i could put a 300 lb wood block in my truck. Luckily, the people who were cutting the tree had mercy on me and help me to bring it home for a small fee.
  • The completed piece take years because you have to wait for the wood to dry, age, crack and finally settle,

"The Discovery of America" Contest winner

The two biggest achievements that i have had with art happened while being in the USA:

  • I am a 16 y/o foreign exchange student in Woodbine, Iowa, USA and I WON! the WHS SENIOR ART AWARD.
  • Many years later, I am completing my MSEM at USF in Tampa, FL. I participated in an open city art competition to celebrate the 500 years of the discovery of America
  • I participated with two paintings and this painting WON AS BEST OF SHOW AND ALSO MONEY.  I was on the news in the Tampa Tribune giving all the details.
  • You can see the second submitted painting under OILs titled ""Vision of the new world"- Indian view and Spanish view.
  • Who would of thought that this "two view in one painting idea", would become the origin of a very successful book i wrote and illustrated years later, called "My . OF VIEW" that you can find in amazon.com in multiple languages.
  • Or you can find the book link in my website attached next: https://augustosilvabookpress.com/

Ready to capture your loved one's life in a painting?

  • I was running out of money for my last semester of my masters in Engineering management in USF and the university staff learned about my drawing skills, and that i was looking for money to pay my university. They kindly asked me to paint children and relatives (alive and gone) to give as presents to their friends and loved ones.
  • I was able to graduate thanks to my art and to those amazing lady friends that i will never forget.
  • I am 100% God was there manipulating and orchestrating all the right strings as always.
  • I was grateful then and now when i hear positive comments from my customers

The story and beauty behind each art piece often hold more value and significance than the final creation itself.

  • I can document the journey for the artwork that you want me to complete for you.
  • it will come with a story for you to share with visitors or family.

It all started with colored telephone wires and through time, the sculptures became bigger and bigger

I use galvanized thick aluminum wire/sheets which allows me to roll the final work to ship without damaging any where.

Most of my inspirations come from that desire to keep and celebrate the beautiful child years, moments with nature, or the look of our beloved pets who unfortunately age so fast.

Instead of storing those images in files or closets, many of my customers prefer to hang them around their home to remember and keep enjoying them forever.

The memories when I was actually "Hurdling cattle at the farm" bring me back to this precise moment, which I enriched with vibrant fluorescents colors to remind me the wonderful Colombian weather

This has been the largest painting I have made so far.

AVAILABLE FOR SALE! IN THREE ART STYLES
